Miles ate cheerios and banana for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground beef, whole wheat pita bread, cucumber, and three servings of fruit cocktail.  So it's Toy Exchange Monday and the kids were very busy as usual. Sometimes they don't even want to stop for Story Time, but today we read several books. Here are some pictures of Miles hard at work. Lots of trucks and cars in this set and of course Different puzzles.  Next two pictures - This is a fun Activity and probably the first time Miles has attempted it. There are colored sheets below the white board and you're supposed to match the colored bolts to the correct holes; but we skipped that part for now. :) He tried using the battery powered drill (even has a reverse) on the bolts, but had more success with the wrench and screwdriver. I call this a life skills activity!! He ended up screwing in LOTS of bolts and expected to just wander off when he was done. Sorry Bud, in the Preschool Room we have to "pick up and put a...

Miles ate brown rice and raisins for breakfast. For lunch he ate salmon, whole wheat dinner roll, half of his riced cauliflower/sweet potato mix, and ate mangoes. The Food Program monitor Lady showed up unannounced to observe a meal at breakfast, but the kids did great and it was a very minimal interruption. She has a 1 year old and 3 year old herself so maybe the kids sensed how comfortable she was around them. She was getting a kick out of Miles saying, "I'm done, I'm done" while shoveling more food in his mouth!! Haha. Cal and Svea were already done and playing and that was adding to his need to "be done!!" And I had no deficiencies so that was good as well!!  All three kids were running back-n-forth across the room from couch to window. I didn't realize it was a "race" and Miles wasn't aware of it either, but of course that didn't really matter!! It's just an amusing side note!! When they were done Svea announced the winners. S...

Miles ate toasted & buttered whole wheat English muffin and three servings of mandarin oranges for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and three servings of applesauce. This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon. Svea yelled for me to come look what they were doing. "Gary!! You gotta come quick!! There's something REALLY BIG over here!!" (I like the "come quick" part. Ha.) They'd built the duplos in a single line from the wall to the mattress. That really does take a lot of pieces to go across there. :) All three contributed to their project. Second picture: Miles is having fun doing puzzles right after breakfast. Svea was still sitting at the table eating and watching him. She finally said, in a very authoritative voice, "Miles, if you would do the puzzle in order it would be SOOOO much better!" LOL! So funny. Here's the back story. The pieces fit fairly snug, but he's finished it his...

Miles ate some of his whole wheat toast and ate fruit cocktail for breakfast. For lunch he ate Hearty Paleo Stew with meat, carrots, green beans, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes, and cauliflower. He ate saltines and three servings of peaches. Here's an assumption I usually make when working with Children ages Infants through Preschoolers. I assume they are NOT thinking like I think and I'm usually correct. We adults just assume kids think like us, but they don't and aren't capable of that yet. I find it hilarious!! Here's a quick story about Grandson Gideon from yesterday. He's 3 and playing hide-n-seek with a 2 year old cousin. She was "counting" and saying, "2, 2, 2, 2" while Gideon went and hid and then she cried because she couldn't find him. The Cousin's Grandma asked what was wrong. Gideon said, "She's sad because she can't count." :)  First picture: Miles doing some "butt bombs!!" "I do butt bomb!!...

Happy Tuesday! Or as we 'Numbers People' call it: "2's Day!!" 02/22/2022. Ok, I know! I know that's lame, but I still like it!! :)  Miles ate his waffle serving and three large servings of grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate chicken, half of his whole wheat tortilla, three servings of corn, and ate his apples slices. First picture: Miles working on some puzzles. He chose to do puzzles several times this morning AND I chose for him to do puzzles several times this morning!! Haha!! Monday (I know this is Tuesday) mornings are always a bit challenging - a 3 day weekend is even more challenging. He just wanted to disrupt what the other kids were doing and he seemingly couldn't help himself. Ha! (It wasn't just Miles - Cal had been infected by the same disruptive virus.) Second picture: This was very shortly after arrival and Cal said, "That was fun Miles." And that was the end of it; a one time run.  Next picture: Miles had some of his favorit...

Miles ate oatmeal and half of his apple bites for breakfast. For lunch he ate a large serving of hamburger stew with meat, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, and green beans. He ate half of his whole wheat dinner roll, and three servings of fruit cocktail. "More cocktail, more cocktail, more cocktail." :)                                               - Humorous Notes -  :) Svea was using a doll blanket like a cape and the boys wanted to join her. Soon the boys each had a cape too. Svea said, "If you're gonna be Batman you gotta wear a cape." Probably five minutes later I heard Cal tell Svea, "Batman has to go potty!! I'm gonna tell Gary that I....uhhh.....Batman has to go potty!!"  :) Svea had the boys playing some kind of game. I watched, but I had no idea!! :) Svea saw me watching and said, "We're playing a game." Cal asked, "What game are we playing?" Haha. He was ob...

Miles ate whole wheat English muffin and half of his dried plums for breakfast. For lunch he ate pulled pork, half of his whole wheat toast, ate peas, and three servings of strawberries.  I forgot to tell you about this yesterday when you picked up the kids. I don't remember why, but I was wondering about the definition of "Macarena." So of course I asked my phone. Ha. Nora heard me ask Siri and Nora said, "I think that means Mac & Cheese in Spanish!!"  LOL! Oh man that made me laugh. So funny. Thanks Nora. First picture: As usual Miles starts his day with "Do Puzzles!? Do Puzzles!? Do Puzzles!?" If he'd take a breath between inquiries he'd hear me say "yes." Haha. Second picture; Miles at the Doll House. Or as I call it Miles' "Outhouse!" And yes, he pooped there again today. :)  Miles asked if he could play with the basket of building materials in the Preschool Room. And this is all he used out of the basket; 4 pie...

Miles ate whole wheat toast and two large servings of mangoes for breakfast. For lunch he ate most of ground beef with marinara sauce on top of whole grain spaghetti noodles, half of his cauliflower, and ate a large serving of fruit salad.  First picture - Miles and Cal taking advantage of the two large "boats" built by Nicole. She'd left with her Mom and Dad to go to the Hospital and prepare for a baby Sister. Cal was able to push the boat with Miles hitching a ride. Seeing Miles so close to the changing table reminds me of a large donkey we had when I was a kid. That donkey loved to rub it's rider up against a tree on the way by. :(. Ornery thing!! Next 6 pictures!! As soon as we were done with breakfast we headed outside and the boys were having so much fun we just stayed out there until time to put Lunch on their plates. Svea is hanging out playing games with Grandma, so it's just Cal and Miles again today. Second picture: The boys played on this little "...

Miles ate bites of blueberry bagel and three large servings of grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate shrimp, brown rice topped with berry juice, ate most of broccoli, and ate mixed berries. He cracks me up when he's eating grapes because he loves them so much!! He had a mouth full of grapes, a fist full of grapes, and was yelling, "more grapes! more grapes! more grapes!" (because I'd told him it was his 3rd and last serving of grapes) Moments later a big "BURP!!" Hahaha. Pace yourself Miles, pace yourself!! :) Miles also cracks me up when ..... he's asking me to do something and then he does this continuous vigorous affirmative head-nod while waiting for my answer. (Like the head=nodding is gonna help convince me!!) "Gary, me do puzzle!? Gary, me do puzzle?" Head nod, head nod, head nod!! :) First picture: Miles is at the gate greeting Callahan as Cal had just walked in the door. But here's why I took this picture; he has on a stethoscope ...

Miles ate bites of breakfast: bran cereal and raisins. For lunch he ate half of his chicken topped with avocado, bites of whole wheat pita bread, ate cucumber, and half of his pears. Happy Valentines Day everyone! Hope your hearts are full of love. :) Almost immediately after Miles arrived Cal was happy to see they both had Yoda shirts. Cal said, "Miles, you have a Yoda shirt just like me!" :) Cal noticed it before I did. I guess that really isn't much of a compliment; I may never have noticed it without someone pointing it out. :) In the following picture Cal had lots of the "new" books laid out on the floor so they could get a better look at them. There are doctor toys in this toy exchange and in the next picture Miles was taking Cal's temperature. Miles didn't want to stop when Cal was ready to be done. I was impressed that Cal cooperated as long as he did!! Earlier Cal had taken my temperature and then had a stethoscope to listen to my heart beat. Ex...
