Miles ate half of his ground beef, ate whole wheat elbow noodles, ate half of his peas/carrots, and ate applesauce. Well the night was short and the morning was shorter - ha - so the Blog may be shorter. To fill a little space I took a picture of their lunch plate so you can see the amount of food I serve. Let's just say my servings far exceed the Federal Food Program guidelines!! Dang, those servings are so small. Anyhow we don't often talk about the food served here, so here's a picture of the Lunch today and all the kids get the same amount. So if I report they eat  all  of a serving you can know they are eating a lot of food!! :) This is more about Cal, but applies to everyone! So I have a silly routine during Daycare when I have to use the Bathroom. I always say, "Ok kids I'm going to the bathroom and Miles is in charge." Or whoever I choose for that day!! This morning Cal was the only one here and I told him I was going to the bathroom and he asked, ...

Miles ate French toast and three servings of strawberries for breakfast. For lunch he ate a large serving of Hearty Paleo Stew with meat, cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, and tomatoes. He ate saltines and pineapple/mango.  Svea had Cal involved in her make-believe play and she told Cal to "go get Grandfather." So Callahan walked over to Miles - who was not involved in their play and was totally baffled by this remark - "Svea needs you Grandfather." LOL. Dang that was funny.  This first picture is leftover from yesterday afternoon and all three kids are under the cozy corner rug; even though you can only see Cal's feet! :) Second picture: This is what Cal and Miles would prefer to do with the blocks; carry them to the top of legos table and toss them off or tip them over. So we (me - with the boys supplying the blocks) built a nice structure for them to play in. Ha. We went for a walk this morning and met "Rosie" the dog. Ros...

MIles ate bites of waffle and ate grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate chicken, whole wheat tortilla, two servings of corn, and ate apple bites.   This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon when Svea and Miles were having fun with their little game. Svea (in the wagon in case you missed that) would take Miles all the way to the gate and tell him to  run  pushing the ice cream cart and she'd sprint to lay down in the wagon. He'd come up the sidewalk as fast as he could go and crash into the wagon. Over and over with both of them laughing and squealing. Silly kids.  Next picture: Svea was working on coloring a coffee filter and then we sprayed water on it to watch the colors run. The boys wanted to join her so they were doing Art 30 minutes before breakfast. Their pieces all came out very pretty. Avilene started it yesterday afternoon and her masterpiece is on the table although I didn't intentionally put it into the picture!! Ha. Just an FYI: I know it...

Miles ate most of kix cereal and two servings of fruit cocktail for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground turkey, ate whole wheat hamburger bun, tomatoes, and two servings of cherries. Svea sharing random information at breakfast: "I like unicorns, eagles, and bluebirds." Haha. "Interesting! Anyone else feel like sharing things they like!?"  We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and just like I've said every two weeks for years now, "the kids stayed busy all morning." Haha. (That doesn't' seem to change so I'd say the technique has worked and been very successful!!) First picture: Miles had two phones up to his ears and was saying, "Momma, Daddy, Momma, Daddy." Hey, he's brilliant!! Two phones, two people!! :) Following picture: Doctor toys in this set and Cal said, "Can I check him?!?" Ha. "Well you should ask Miles, not me!" Cal moved it across Miles' forehead just like a pro.  Next pictur...

Miles ate some oatmeal and some apple bites for breakfast. For lunch he ate a large serving of Whole 30 Chili with meat, peppers, sweet potatoes, tomato sauce, tomatoes, and lots of spices. He ate whole wheat dinner roll, and a large serving of fruit cocktail.  A leftover note: At Snack yesterday I was telling Miles to "stop poking holes in your food and just eat it." At the exact moment I finished talking Miles farted! So funny. Avilene just about fell out of her chair laughing so hard. Then at Lunch today Svea said, "Hey Gary, do you remember  that  day when you were done talking and Miles farted!?!" Haha. First picture from yesterday too! Miles still had on his pink PJ's - just gotten up from his nap -  and was laying on the couch with Svea. She liked it that he had his hand resting on her back. Second picture; Svea said, "Hey Miles! Do this!" And he crawled right up and did what she was doing. It's just Svea and Miles here today so we went on a...

Miles ate two servings of French toast and ate dried plums for breakfast. For lunch he ate pulled pork, bites of whole wheat toast, half of peas/carrots, and ate strawberries.  Hey Emily, Svea didn't arrive until almost 11:00 so we didn't go on the walk I had planned. We'll either go after nap time or tomorrow. It was a lot of fun having lots of one-on-one time with Miles and I loved it. We sang songs and did the actions and as you know he loves that. He will sit and do that way longer than he'll sit and read books. (At least that's what I am seeing here.) I like the cute little smug look on his face in the selfie we did. Second picture: Miles is pushing a button with his left hand - over and over and over and over - and watching my reaction. Ha. Depending on what mode the car is in, it will repeat a phrase or the shape of that particular hole. You can see a circle, star, and heart from this picture angle. Next picture; This is a little game we play as I'm washi...

Miles ate whole wheat toast and three servings of mangoes for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground beef with marinara sauce on whole wheat spaghetti noodles, ate riced cauliflower, and fruit salad.  Cal was pointing at the smoke alarm and said, "Can we do fireworks!?! Can we do fireworks!?! I want to do it! I want to do it!" Haha. Yes we can do a fire drill . :) And we did. And of course Miles was enthusiastic about heading outside!! :) I've got 3 pictures left over from yesterday afternoon that I'm gonna use today. This morning the kids played with the building blocks, food toys, we read books, did some songs and singing, and pestered Lauralea whenever we had the chance!! First picture; I posted a similar picture on Monday - from Friday -when Miles was pulling these two in the wagon and it always amuses me when the youngest it doing all the work. And Svea was moaning about him going "too slow" on Friday as well!! Yesterday she said, "Miles!! Go faster!! ...

Miles ate blueberry bagel and three servings of grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate shrimp, brown rice smothered in blackberry juice, ate most of broccoli, and ate blackberries. The big girls may be gone, but the tradition continues; smother the rice with berry juice. :) First picture taken at Breakfast: Miles wanted more grapes and has jammed his mouth full with bagel AND he's trying to ask for more grapes. Dang!! Miles; I've only had to perform the Heimlich on one child in 25 years and I'd like to keep it that way!!  Here's the story behind the first picture. And it's what they've been doing every day for over a week. Cal said, "How bout we build a cave!?!" Which means; we the boys lay here and you Svea build it!! Haha. And that's the way she wants it!! If they try to help she instructs them to "get back in the cave!" Haha. Second picture is more of the same with a bit of a twist. She is now going to build "Grandma's House...

Miles ate most of cream of wheat cereal and ate dried plums for breakfast. For lunch he ate some chicken, some brown rice, some of his carrots, and ate all of his pineapple.  First picture: If you look closely you can see Svea is setting up the blocks in domino style like she has watched the big girls do in the past. (And it worked perfectly when Svea pushed them over!!) Miles was playing it safe and staying behind her!! Good idea Miles! You can see Cal in the distance and he would occasionally help or hinder. Svea would yell, "Cal! Cal! Not like that!" The kids wanted to go the open field beside Meadow Hill School again - which is great because it's just around the corner!! There isn't any play equipment there, but they still like the benches, running in the open space, and the rocks!! Svea and Cal like looking at the rocks and Miles likes to throw them!! Which is fairly hazardous for all of us!!  Haha. In the second picture Svea is trying to have them run in a clock...

Miles ate waffle and two servings of Mango/Strawberry for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground turkey, whole wheat tortillas, 2 big bites of sweet potatoes (to get more cherries), and two servings of cherries. This picture is left over from yesterday afternoon and I was tickled when Svea said, "Hey Gary!! The PS is here!!" I knew exactly what that meant, but I had to get a picture too as Miles joined her to watch the PS man at work. :) Next picture: This has become Miles' favorite spot (for the last 2 weeks) to do his business!! As in Pooping Business. :) Again, this is another early clue to his awareness of having to poop and his knowing that something is happening! When he was done he went over to the toy shelf, but he was giving me some sideways glances that spoke volumes!! So I asked, "Are you done? Come here and I'll change you!" :)  Next picture: Svea built the entire "cave" while Cal waited inside again - just like yesterday. Svea had to go p...

Miles ate two servings of French toast and two servings of strawberries - mixed together - for breakfast. For lunch he ate hamburger stew with meat, green beans, tomatoes, carrots, and potatoes. He ate whole wheat dinner roll and two servings of fruit cocktail.  I took this picture yesterday afternoon when the neighbor's dog was laying by the fence. I'm fairly certain that was Miles' hand coming through the fence although both boys were reaching through to pet the dog.  This next picture is left over from yesterday afternoon and the boys had held hands a couple of times in the house. I wasn't able to get a picture, but then they did it again outside coming up the sidewalk. Cal said, "Miles, you're my friend." That was very sweet. However don't make the mistake of thinking this will result in less conflict!! I've never seen that happen yet and I've witnessed lots of hugs and handholding over the years. Hahaha. I think I'm a realist, not cyni...
